Cameron and Lucy have become much more alert in the past week. They have longer periods of being awake and just seem to take everything in. It's so cute to have them stare back at us or sit in their bassinets and just look around. We hung little toys from their bassinets this week to see if they would intrigue them. Cameron loves to stare at the little dangling frog! Lucy noticed Elmo hanging above her today (or at least grammy (my mom) said she noticed it)! A huge milestone for the twins is they both rolled over!!!! I went to get Lucy from her crib on the morning of June 4th and found her laying on her stomach. We NEVER put them to sleep on their stomachs so you can imagine my surprise. I quickly googled when babies typically roll over and learned this happens around 4 months usually. So I pretty much convinced myself that she must have been laid to sleep on her side and sorta fell on her stomach. Later the same day my mom and I did tummy time with Cameron. He really got to pushing himself around and literally rolled over onto his back in front of us!! I then changed my mind about Lucy and decided she must have rolled over as well. The twins are strong little boogers so we really shouldn't be surprised. I was one proud mama of my little rollers :-) Since the babies were born a bit premature, we've been told on several occasions that their development might be slow during the first year. I can accept that but having them roll over just proves to me how determined and strong they are!!
Jeremy and I took them on their first walk in the stroller this morning. They really seemed to like it! It felt good to get outside with them and explore the new park down the street from us. We can't wait to get back out with them again soon.
Other updates...Jeremy (with the help of some neighbors) planted a tree in the backyard for the twins. I call it the Cameron and Lucy tree as it will grow right along with them! They have met many new faces here at home including family and friends who have come to visit. Aside from the doctor's office the only place we have taken them is to a small cookout at one of our neighbor's house. We only stayed about 20 minutes and then I got nervous and we headed home. Never thought I'd be a paranoid mama but hey, aren't we all a little bit?!! Once they hit the 2 month mark, we will have them out and about a little more. The twins are both still eating every 3 hours give or take a little. Twice during the night they managed to sleep a little longer and there was about 4 hours from one feeding to the next. It's not much extra sleep for Jer and I, but we'll take what we can get!! Jeremy and the twins have a slumber party in the nursery every night. Due to Lucy's tummy issues she only seems able to sleep after a feeding if she's held upright. Jeremy sleeps in the recliner in the nursery with Lucy on his chest. I sleep in our bedroom with the dogs. :-) Yep....our world sure has changed!! It's really pretty funny to hear the babies cry over the monitor and then head into the nursery at night to find Jer passed out with Lucy. When I wake him for feeding time, he's usually a bit disoriented. Two different times he's been convinced he's holding Cameron instead of Lucy! It will be interesting to see how the sleep arrangements go over the next month. Maybe Jeremy will make it back to our bed?!! Only time will tell. More to come as Cameron and Lucy grow and change...Our amazing little babies sure have changed our world forever and it's only going to keep getting better.
The Cameron and Lucy tree! Jeremy and Charlie were adding the finishing touch of mulch.
We finally got to hang each of the baby's initials in the nursery. Jeremy and I made these several months ago but didn't want anyone to guess their names by seeing their initials! ;-)
Ready for the Memorial Day cookout (that we only stayed at for 20 minutes)! Thanks for the outfits miss Kaci!!
Grammy lending a hand...or two.
One month pictures!! Their faces are priceless even if the poses aren't that perfect!!
They were clearly done with the photo session :-)
