Jeremy and I have taken great delight in watching them learn and play this month. They didn't add any new words to their vocabulary (although they sure do try to talk to us) but we have lots of sounds including growling (Lucy) and humming (Cameron). No clue where Lucy picked up growling from but it comes out during meals sometimes or while playing. Cameron likes to bounce up and down, sometimes waves his hands, and hums. They both love music and just love to dance. Between home, grammy's, and daycare they hear lots of songs and apparently have learned to appreciate them! The twins clap all the time now. If we say "yay!" or they get excited about something, they start clapping. Cameron can shake his head no. He doesn't seem to understand what it means but he sure is proud that he can shake it. Peek a boo continues to be a great game right now. The twins laugh and smile and love this game. Lucy likes to put things on her head to cover up her eyes and then sharply rips them off while we say, "where's Lucy?!" Lucy also loves to "share" things. She takes toys or her pacifier and will hold it out for us to see or have. Earlier I watched her give Cameron her pacifier, who then proudly put it in his mouth. Speaking of germ passing...we've had a pretty healthy month!! Cameron had a virus earlier this month which included a temperature of 103, 2 visits to the pediatrician's office, and lots of TLC from us and both his grandmas. After he got over that one though, they have both had a good month. I think it means Spring is finally taking over! It's about time!
They're both quite fond of some of their stuffed animals and blankets. They each sleep with a little blanket that has a stuffed animal head and satin edging. Lucy loves her monkey Molly and her giraffe Gigi. Cameron loves his monkey Milo and his dog George. Yes, we name all their critters :-) They clutch them when they sleep at night or during naps and also take them with them each time they go somewhere. Cameron will sit in his crib and play with his blanket buddy or entertain himself with it during car rides. When Lucy gets up from a nap she always makes sure to grab her little blanket buddy. It warms my heart to know they have a little something that gives them extra security when they are sleeping or away from home!
We've started letting them have real food this month (as opposed to everything pureed and out of a jar!). They have had avocados, peas, carrots, peaches, pears, bananas, and bread. They love the Gerber finger foods including puffs (which they've been for a while now), yogurt melts (my personal favorite), and lil crunchies. I think their favorite is bananas. They get so excited to have some each day after their morning bottle. We have yet to find a food Cameron doesn't like. Lucy will occasionally turn her head at something such as pureed corn or a pureed jar of spinach and potatoes. Can you blame her though?! Aside from the food, they still have 5 bottles a day with almost 5 ounces in each one.
They're wearing 9 month clothing and size 3 diapers. We're going to start putting Cameron in some of this 12 month clothing this week and I bet Lucy is ready for 12 month stuff by the time their first birthday hits (May 4th!!!). Bedtime has stayed consistent at 7:30 p.m. and they wake up most mornings any where from 5:45 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. They take 2 naps a day that last 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. These usually take place around 9:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Cameron and Lucy went to 2 birthday parties this month. Their buddies Carter and Jameson turned 2. The twins had fun at both parties and did great playing on the floor with some of the other little ones. They had lots of family time with relatives from both mine and Jeremy's families this month including getting to see their cousin Cora for the second time. They got to meet my Aunt Linda, my cousin Christina, and her 2 girls for the first time. They celebrated their first Easter!! We decided against taking them to visit the Easter bunny. They tend to get nervous around new faces and Lucy still freaks out sometimes, around guys especially. We had little confidence that the Easter bunny visit would not be complete torture for them so we avoided it. Jeremy and I gave them their Easter baskets after they got up Easter morning. They loved seeing the gifts in their baskets and their new toys. We took them to church Easter morning with my grandpa, my cousin Kaci, and my friend Kelly. They did awesome!! They were entertained by people sitting around us and didn't cry once. We came home for naps (for the twins that is, I was busy baking a breakfast casserole). Then we headed to my parents for Easter brunch. They had fun playing in their dressy clothes (pics below). I think Lucy really liked her frilly dress!
Time to get a bit emotional...when I write the next post, they will have turned a year old. At this time last year I was home on complete bed rest, waiting and wondering what our little babies were going to be like. It honestly feels like yesterday.
I think Cam is saying, "I'm SOO much bigger than my dog."
Lucy was trying to share her sticker with me.
They love the little playhouse we got them! Look closely, I think Charlie is trying to come in the back door.
Crawling to Zoey.
Trying to give Zoey her dog toy.
So big!
He gets so excited for his bananas.
Love those bibs!!
Winding down for the night in Lucy's crib.
Playing in Lucy's crib after a nap. Lucy says, "oh daddy, you are just so funny!"
Having fun with early Easter gifts from Jer's family.
The Easter Bunny came!
They actually played with the ears on for a bit!
Lucy taking off in her walker! Now if she could only learn to turn the walker around...
Playtime with Uncle Ben & Auntie Andrea!
